HARRISBURG – Sen. Michele Brooks (R-50) announced today the award of $1 million for improvement projects in Crawford County. The funding is being awarded through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP).
“I truly appreciate the opportunity to work with these applicants to help secure the funding for these projects, which are an important investment to help attract additional jobs and economic growth to the county and will serve to offer new outdoor recreational activities for local residents, as well as new families looking to relocate to the area,” said Brooks.
The Economic Progress Alliance of Crawford County was awarded $500,00 for the Bessemer Trail Extension Project, which will include installation of asphalt trail dedicated for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as bridge improvements.
“The investment from the Commonwealth to extend the trail system throughout the Meadville area will allow for additional connectivity and recreation which will greatly enhance the quality of life for Crawford County residents,” said Jim Becker, executive director of the Economic Progress Alliance of Crawford County. “This trail will enhance an already vibrant trail system and will allow for additional links to community assets making them more accessible for all residents. We’d like to thank Senator Brooks for her ongoing support for our projects in Crawford County.”
The Titusville Redevelopment Authority received $500,000 to help complete the purchase and construction of the Cunova Service USA Building, including construction of a railroad connection to the expansion and a new 100-ton crane.
“The Titusville Redevelopment Authority is pleased to hear we were awarded partial funding for the RACP grant. The application was submitted for a building expansion and railroad spur for a tenant in our 200-acre Industrial Park,” according to a Redevelopment Authority statement. “The company is in dire need of expansion to increase their production and sales as well as increase employment by 40 jobs.”
The RACP is a grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the design, acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects.
